We came together at the intersection of two worlds that rarely meet: deep technology and American politics. As a team of engineers, data scientists, and civic technologists, we each carried the same frustration—watching brilliant, caring people in our lives throw their hands up, overwhelmed by the circus that politics had become.
The moment of clarity came when we realized something profound: never before in American history has it been technologically possible to track, analyze, and translate political actions at the scale we can today. We're living through a unique moment where artificial intelligence can finally cut through centuries of political obfuscation and spin. For the first time ever, we can build a tool that doesn't just inform, but transforms how Americans understand and engage with their democracy.
We watched our friends, our families, our communities wanting to care, to engage, to hold their leaders accountable. But the system seemed designed to exhaust them into apathy. The information was there, buried in thousand page bills and drowned in partisan noise, but no one had built the searchlight to illuminate it.
That's when we knew: this isn't just a big enough problem to solve it's the problem of our time. Because when citizens can't understand how their government affects their lives, when they can't separate truth from spin, accountability dies. And with it, the very promise of America begins to fade.
We built Aware to be that searchlight to make the truth impossible to ignore, to transform political awareness from a source of frustration into a path toward meaningful action. This is our act of preservation for the country we love.
